The vineyard
In 1987 it was established in Roa (Burgos) which is the town where the headquarters of the Regulatory Council of the Appellation of Origin are located. Since 1998, Marqués de Velilla has produced wine solely from its own grapes, thanks to its 150 hectare vineyard, which is planted with 89% Tinta del País, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec and 2% Merlot.

Marqués de Velilla was established in 1985 by the Segovian family Hernández de Mercado and is today among the most respected wineries in the Ribera del Duero appellation.
